Stump Grinding in Murray, KY

Stumps ground down below the surface, so the spot can be mowed, planted or built on.

Stump Grinding

Gone below the grass, not just cut low.

A cut stump is a mower hazard, a trip hazard and, sooner or later, a home for insects.

Left alone, some species also keep sending up suckers around the old trunk.

The grinder chews the stump down below ground level, roots near the surface included, and the chips go back into the hole.

On clearing jobs, stumps go 6 to 12 inches under the surface.

That keeps them out of the way of foundations, tilling and trenching.

What we look for

Good reasons to grind it

  • Mow straight over it

No more steering around a stump.

  • Stop new shoots

Grinding ends the sucker growth around old stumps.

  • Keep insects out

A rotting stump invites ants and other pests.

  • Use the ground again

Plant a bed, pour a patio or build a shed there.

How we do it

One stump or a whole lot of them.

We grind single stumps left from old removals and every stump on a cleared lot.

Add grinding to a removal estimate and the new stump can go too.

Our grinders run on tracks, so they reach stumps in back yards as well as out in the open.

The cutting wheel can work close to fences and foundations.

When the grinding is done, the chips can be left to fill the hole or raked out so you can add soil and seed.
